Reading takes you many places. On June 14th, it can take you to a magical literacy fundraising event in a secluded garden in Glen Ellen. Kid Scoop News supporter, Jean Simpson and board members, Vicki Whiting and Karen Roche, invite you to join an intimate gathering to appreciate tea in the same way our community tastes and appreciates wines. Savor tea aromas, flavors, and textures with mindful attention. Compare color, body, and finish, often noting subtle differences shaped by origin and processing. Small sips and an expanded tea-tasting vocabulary help deepen appreciation and highlight each drink’s unique character. Rosé and champagne will also be served. Nibbles will follow the classic tea party menu of scones, finger sandwiches, and other delicacies. Because Kid Scoop News is first and foremost about awakening the magic of reading, we have connected our tea-tasting garden party to the tea parties you may remember from beloved children’s books. Who can forget the Mad Hatter Tea Party in Alice in Wonderland? Paddington having tea with the queen. Madeline having tea in Manhattan? And, of course, when Winnie the Pooh looks for a “little something” a picnic of tea, bread and honey ensues. We look forward to you joining us to share in children’s literature, to celebrate a love of reading, to learn more about the fascinating world of teas, and of course, experience sips of local rosé and bubbles.
